OVERVIEW:

Indonesia is the largest archipelago and the fourth most heavily populated country in the world. It consists of a diverse culture coupled with rich destinations, and is simply a land that offers endless opportunities for those pursuing adventure, business and leisure. This tropical island also provides shelter for the wide range of flora and fauna. Its warm tropical water helps to support and nurture a marine environment, where rare tropical fish, coral species and marine mammals can be seen. Indonesia is home to approximately 480 ethnic groups, all of which co-exist harmoniously and this inevitably created a wide spectrum of cultures and fascinating people. On top of that, the country has also been upgrading its infrastructure and facilities to better prepare for the growth in tourism.

ATTRACTIONS:

 

 1.      Jakarta

Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia and it is located strategically on the shore of the Java Sea. Since many years back, Jakarta has always been chosen as the meeting point for the different races, cultures and tradition of the hundreds of ethnic groups that compose Indonesia. While Jakarta has been transformed with towering modern skyscrapers and various types of modern MICE facilities, it is heart–warming to see that the centuries-old traditions still stay. In Jakarta, visitors also get to enjoy the historical places, cultural heritage, various entertainment and sport facilities and vibrant night life. This city is also renowned as a golfing heaven; it is blessed with numerous spectacular courses.

2.      Yogyakarta 

Another famous tourist destination in Indonesia is Yogyakarta. In fact, this ancient city has been visited by a great number of officials, including country leaders. As a city of tradition and culture, Yogyakarta is well-known for its arts – both traditional and modern. It interest visitors with performances of classical dance, music and wayang kulit. Some of the more popular attractions in its region include the Keraton, Imogiri, Mendut, Prambanan and more. Additionally, visitors making a trip to Yogyakarta can tell that the cultural colour is still rather obvious from the temples, traditional buildings, various cultural activities as well as a number of famous artists. By this, it draws attention to the existence of living tradition in the everyday life of Yogyakarta community which is art loving and hospitable. Lastly, in terms of transportation, Adisucipto International Airport is the principal airport serving the Yogyakarta area.

3.      Surakarta 

Better known to many as Solo, Surakarta lies across in fertile plain terrain along the longest river in Java, Bengawan or River Solo. Over the years, Surakarta has established a distinctive identity for itself as one of the more preferred tourist destination in Indonesia. It is home to many cultural, traditional and heritage sites as well as different historic places. The city is situated closely to the famous Prambanan temples and visitors can also expect to see many fascinating museums, palaces and centers of art and culture. Speaking of must–see tourist destinations, it includes none other than the Kasunanan Palace, Puro Mangkunegaran Palace, Suhasra Adhi Pura Hindu temple, parks, gardens and museums and more. By and large, in terms of people and culture, the Javanese are by far the largest of the various social and cultural groups making up Solo’s population, and they can be divided into two traditional social classes.
